Chocolate-Chestnut balls

Updated: Nov 10, 2024

Chocolate dessert craving fixed in minutes with these super easy no-bake desserts made with 5 ingredients. All you need is a bowl to mix everything and a plate to roll the balls in cocoa powder. I used ready chestnut purée, so you don't have to worry about spending ages peeling and cooking whole chestnuts. Chestnut is a great source of vitamin C and also provides B6, magnesium, and iron. The cocoa powder is full of fibre and antioxidants, so you have a treat with some additional health benefits. The acacia fibre powder is optional; you can use inulin powder instead or simply leave it out. I added it to increase the fibre content and to support gut health. Did you know acacia powder acts as a prebiotic in your digestive system? These will last in the fridge for 3-4, I thought they actually tasted better in the next day.

Chocolate-Chestnut balls

Serving: 12 balls (can depend on the size) Prep time: 10 minutes Cook time: not required

Ingredients:

  • 200 chestnut purée (I used Merchant Gourmet)

  • 7 tbsp cocoa powder (cacao powder also works)

  • 5 tbsp maple syrup

  • 1 tsp vanilla extract

  • 1 tbsp acacia fibre powder

Instructions:

  • Transfer the chestnut purée to a bowl and break it further down with a fork

  • add the cocoa powder, maple syrup, and vanilla extract and mix. Feel free to add additional or less maple syrup to tailor it to your preference.

  • Add the acacia fibre powder and combine well.

  • Add cocoa powder on a dinner plate. Roll the paste into small balls and roll them in the coca. If you find too much paste sticking to your hands, just wet your hands slightly before rolling the balls.

  • Store the balls in the fridge in an airtight container and consume them in 3–4 days.
